Camping At Camp Bison

This past weekend I had an amazing time camping overnight in an abandoned prison, hidden away in the Northern Ontario wilderness. The jail was closed in the 70's and has been slowly decaying since then, crumbling apart, being broken & smashed by vandals, frequently visited by all different types of people who have heard the whispers about this hidden gem. For myself and my friends, it has become an annual trip, growing larger each year with about 20 people in attendance this time.

And I must say, it was an awesome way to celebrate my 27th birthday!

In the Valley

I visited this abandoned house with my younger brother a few weeks back after my mom spotted it while doing a painting job in town. So we grabbed cameras and set out to explore it. It didn't have a whole lot of stuff left behind, but it was very groovy/retro with the wallpaper, and had lots of great textures to be documented. I have heard that the person who owns the property plans to tear down this house as well as the one beside it to make space to build chalets. And I think that sucks.

Secret Garden

When I first got into photography and before I had found my "abandoned" niche, I used to take

pictures of everything else. A year into college I got a macro lens and instantly was captured by

the world of tiny things. My favourite thing was spending an afternoon in the garden with my

face in the flowers, getting very up-close-and-personal with the finer details of nature. I think

it changes your perspective a bit too, because it translates into your everyday life; you notice the

little things that others pass by, and all you can think is... "That would make an amazing photo."

I Think I'm in Love.

His name is Kobe.
He's 3 1/2 months old.
Husky-collie mix.

Adorable,
Loveable,
Ours.

Only the beginning.

I must admit, this isn't my first blog, but it promises to be the most noteworthy. The purpose of this particular one is to show some of the things I am doing in my everyday life and what I encounter in it; something I took a photo of, or maybe some current graphic design projects. Sometimes it could be as simple as a quote or thought for the day/week/month.

I hope this is a chance for you to get to know me a bit better.

To see behind the lens.

Stay tuned for big things.... they are just around the corner.
